Lava Diva formed in 1992 during the L.A. riots, Dawn and Johnny wrote their first set of songs during three days of mandatory curfew. Lava Diva’s hard, melodic music soon found a place amongst local bands, sharing the stage with groups like Rage Against the Machine, Weezer, Stanford Prison Experiment, and Beck. After a 20-year hiatus, Lava Diva has brought back their alternative rock sound, playing throughout Los Angeles with fresh new acts like Madam Bombs, MAL, and Speed of Light.
Bobsled was an all-female Riot Grrl band featured on many punk compilations and featured in Lisa Apramian’s and Courtney Love’s documentary “Not Bad for a Girl” (the quintessential Riot Grrrl movie), Naked Jane, and Campfire Tales (with a cover of The Monster Mash).
